Eye-friendly Vitamins for Good Eyesight

All our five senses are very important because each one plays a significant role in whatever we do. Presently, I cannot actually think of something that we can do without our eyes. We cannot work properly and do household chores without seeing what we do. We watch TV and appreciate the things around us using our eyes. Our eyes are very important – this may be the reason why sometimes it gets overused and thus results to vision impairment.

Especially for professionals, good eyesight is a requirement that’s why we always have to make sure that we keep our eyes healthy. Maybe we can say that our eyesight will become poor when we grow old, but we could still delay this by staying healthy, doing necessary precautions and eat foods that are rich in eye-friendly vitamins.

Vitamin A is probably the most popular vitamin that aids in keeping our eyes healthy. Since we were kids, we are taught that Vitamin A is for good eyesight. A daily dose of 2,500 iu of this vitamin would help you maintain good eyesight.

Lutein on the other hand is a carotenoid in the eye that helps in forming a layer of pigment to protect the retina from damaging light. Six mg everyday of this carotenoid is the amount we need.
Both Bilberry and Selenium are antioxidants that help reduce cell damage in the eyes caused by free radicals. Everyday, we need 5 to 10 mg and 26mcg respectively to protect our eyes.
